Blooms of warmth nestled amongst enchanting greenery.
One of four perfumes from Friedemodin’s debut Jardin Mystique collection, Jardin Mystique is a green floral fragrance that aims to conjure up the sensory experience of a wild enchanted garden. A sparkling fruit note is what greeted me when I first smelled it. Like crushed blackcurrants, it’s mouth-wateringly juicy and fresh, with just a touch of woodiness. Quickly however, this juicy cassis note is fused with a slight bitterness from citrusy bergamot and an herbaceous touch of freshly cut grass. Continue reading
Sarabecca Natural Perfumes is a perfumery that craft fragrances entirely from natural oils and essences. Created by Kenneth Grand after nearly four years of hard work, Sarabecca’s two fragrances – Sarabecca Day and Sarabecca Night – are unique and sophisticated. Here we review them both. Anubis by Papillon Perfumery is a mysterious and addictive perfume that evokes images of Ancient Egypt – mummification, precious artefacts and rich incense. The fragrance opens with an intense suede note, one which is animalistic, yet luxurious. The suede combined with the unique floral earthiness of pink lotus, heady frankincense and bittersweet saffron make for an initial impression which is smooth, dark and enchanting. Continue reading
Smoothing, softening, and sensually scented.
We all know the negative connotations of talcum powder. Typically seen as go-to gift for old people, and frequently smelling of rose or lavender, it’s unlikely that you’ll ever spot a younger person buying a bottle of it! Decadence and elegance, bottled.
If you took fresh lavender and crushed it in your hands then the intense aroma released would be reminiscent of the top notes of Cocktail, Gorilla Perfume’s homage to classic French perfumery. All hype and no substance?
The latest offering by Jimmy Choo, Flash claims to evoke the high octane excitement of going out to party. Unfortunately though, the only element of such an atmosphere that we could detect in this perfume is the initial heady aroma of cheap hairspray. Continue reading
Sexy, sultry and sophisticated.
Lust from Gorilla Perfume is a strong, seductive fragrance, most definitely one for the evening. When you first smell it then it may seem a little overwhelming, but give it time and it will gently develop into a smooth, sexy scent; one that envelops you in a layer of sultry sophistication. Whilst the smell is undeniably feminine, it’s also incredibly sensual. It’s sweet, yet musky; pretty, yet naughty, and deeply mysterious. If you want a perfume to complete your sexy evening look then this is undoubtedly the one to go for. Continue reading
A touch of fairytale.
Another variant of the original Nina by Nina Ricci scent, Nina L’Elixir is a slightly edgier, but equally as charming, version of its predecessor. Continue reading
A punch of sweet, complex femininity.
If I had the choice of wearing only one perfume for the rest of my life, Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb would be it. An inspired birthday gift from Gemma, I’ve been using it on special occasions for around seven months and only now starting to run low – it is definitely a fragrance to be savoured. Continue reading
