Some very exciting books news has been released today! Vintage Books have revealed that the next Bridget Jones novel will be released on 10th October 2013. Titled ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’, the novel by Helen Fielding is said to represent a new phase in an older Bridget’s life. Fielding says that “life has moved on” for unlucky-in-love Bridget; she’s still writing her diaries, but has also taken to social media – we’re sure the book will feature some hilarious tweets!

Bridget Jones

Bridget Jones’ fans have been anticipating this novel ever since the release of ‘Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason’ in 2009, and this book promises to be just as good as its predecessors. Here’s an extract:

11.27 p.m. Just presss d SEND. Iss fineisn’t it?

You see, this is the trouble with the modern world. If it was the days of letter-writing, Iwouldnever even have started to find his address, a pen, a piece of paper, an envelope, a stamp, and gone outside at 11.30p.m. to find a postbox. A text is gone at the brush of a fingertip, like a nuclear bomb or exocet missile.

Dan Franklin, director of Cape Publishing, said of Fielding: “Over fifteen years ago she gave a voice to a generation of young women with the original Bridget book; now they’ve grown up and she’s doing it again.”

We are so excited to read about more of Bridget’s London-based escapades, and to find out which boy she’s mad about… Might we see a reappearance of Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy? We can’t wait to find out!
